The 8th of October 2005 will be marked as a day when a natural disaster took place in Pakistan. Thousands of people lost their lives and hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless. I wasnt in Pakistan when this happened but then i cant say i felt their pain coz its too cliched to use that line. No matter how hard we try we dont know what they went through during that period. There were a lot of families who were wiped out. Its easy to talk about feeling bad for them but then can we feel what they must have felt. I feel bad for the people who lost a number of family members but then i am helpless as i cant do anything about it. I wish i could do something about it but i cant bring them back coz Allah has taken them away. I hope i dont sound mean here or anything (though i am not being mean). Their fate was written and there is no nothing we can do about it. I feel really bad that the administration didnt care much about the people and embezelled the funds donated by people from different nations. I ask those corrupt officials if they actually have a consience. dont they feel bad embezelling money which was supposed to help the earthquake victims? how would they feel if they were in their place? i just hope that Allah spares us from more natural disasters and our people go on the right path.
Movies
I finally watched “Being Cyrus” and it really creeped me out. It was an interesting movie as it took me by surprise. I am also waiting for the remake of “Revenge of the nerds”. i loved the original movie coz it showed nerds who truimphed against those football jocks. then if i were to watch another movie it would be “nuns on the run”. it was a really funny british movie which made a lot of sense and did not go over the top. in other news, angelina jolie is shooting the daniel pearl movie in india. she felt bad that they couldnt shoot in pakistan. i am glad that we have one celebrity who loves pakistan. its not such a big deal if she couldnt shoot her movie here. i am sure the government did not give Irfan khan the visa (he is playing the role of one of the pakistani guys) coz they didnt want to provide protection to her. it can be a big pain utilizing some of ur best guys just to protect an actress. on the bright side at least the local “celebrities” and ppl in high places will miss a chance to rub shoulders with brangelina. the indian celebs and ppl in high places will be given that honor hehehe. hmmm maybe they wont socialise so much coz she is going to be shooting a movie after all. i heard that juhi chawla’s movie “waris shah” is going to be premiered at the berlin film festival (asia-pacific chapter). apparently this movie is really good and its the only indian movie to be in competition. however i checked out the website and there are plenty of other indian movies in the running as well. i am not sure if they are just being exhibited or in competition.
Shopping
its that time of the year when everyone starts eid shopping. i hate the eid shopping season coz all the shops are open and they waste so much electricity. It affects our lives coz there is plenty of voltage fluctuation. damn u shop people. u all are worse than circus folk. its like a big fashion show for the ugly people who shop all night long. i dont see the charm of shopping all night long. its not a shopping festival or something. i wish things could be done more tastefully. the worst part is that we usually have family members on one side, urchins or good for nothing guys hanging out with their fly friends who love to oggle all the girls. it seems that things never change at all. why do i hate everything?
side note
on a side note i do hate everything. my brother was talking about begum nawazish ali and how interesting she is. my brother thinks that i am anti-pakistani. i am not anti pakistani. i just hate stuff which bothers me. actually those were his new media lecturer’s statements. mr server feels that if it were dame edna we would be raving about it. i dont care if its english, french, japanese or indian, i just hate stuff which is annoying and unoriginal. i dont even like blue collar tv as i hate that redneck larry the cable guy. What is the big deal with begum nawazish? he/she cant act to save his skin. its just an opportunity for him to flirt with the whole world. i heard that some of the guests actually found it a turn on (ew). i think we all are really sick to love that garbage. i mean fine he could dress up as a woman and do that but then he goes over the top. its like watching a B grade actress act like madonna and sharon stone and failing miserably. begum nawazish ali could have been more sophisticated had he researched it well. it kind of reminds me of those ladies who are a bit kinky and play the key game at parties. i wont call them aunties coz it makes me sick. i cant stand people who call mature women aunties. (i hate the words burger, mummy daddy bacha, papoo, aunty aagggggh).
Red Carpet
I hate the red carpet scene in pakistan. i am sure i have mentioned it before and i really hate it. its just a good excuse for all the losers to shake their booties and packages in front of a live camera. then they try to act so modest and sophisticated. it burns me up to watch clips of them walking down the red carpet. actually it doesnt burn me up so much as it makes me laugh to watch them copy the red carpet scene in other countries. my my pakistan is really going places. in fact our channels seem to have reporters who ape melissa rivers and joan rivers on E. i am sure most of our channels will no longer be there in 2 years. i guess people dont have the patience to watch crappy programs. someone told me that these channels have crappy programming and that top rated programs have loads of ads? hello, havent they heard of a rating system which would allow them to charge more per ad rather than take a million ads. Pakistani Media aaaagh.
