There was a lot of hue and cry about a recent South Park Episode “Hell on Earth”. This episode was supposedly offensive because the late steve irwin (crocodile hunter) is shown to be in hell with a sting ray stuck to his chest. I downloaded the episode so i could see what the fuss was all about. I dont know why but i dont understand why Trey Parker and Matt Stone have to poke fun at everyone. I dont understand why they made such a big deal about Steve Irwin when there are other people such as Princess Diana and Gandhi making cameos as well. Princess Diana was England’s Rose and was mourned the world over. It was pretty upsetting watching a cartoon version of her in hell along with Gandhi. I can bet the Indians are going to be pretty offended to watch Gandhi in Hell. I would be pretty offended if they showed the father of our nation in hell as well. The idea of poking fun is all right as long as you do it within your limits and not to the levels of absurdity.
Overall I wish they had been a little more sensitive and not offended anyone.
I have yet to see this episode, but I think this “insensitivity” and absurdity is what makes South Park “South Park”.
The reason I don’t have much issues with it is that they don’t discriminate and nobody, especially their own leaders and celebrities, is spared.

well south park is known for its absurdity but then some things leave a bad taste in ur mouth. there is a fine line between something which is acceptable and something which isnt. now they shouldnt make fun of people who died under tragic circumstances ie.steve irwin and lady diana. freedom of expression should be used wisely and not abused. btw i am a big fan of south park but then i think they shouldnt have shown gandhi or diana in that episode as well.

gandhi was a racist !! when he was in southafrica he defended the whites overtaking the african americans as slaves. when he came back to india he told the british “no no no dont mistake us for the kaffirs (black african people) we are indians….we are not slaves. they are barbarians they are dirty and they oppress women. we are different”
this was the overally summary of what he told the british in order to convince them not to treat the indians as slaves although they too were darker.
gandhi also was a pervert. slept with young females naked and performed enemas (douche) on them.
he was no sacred holy saint.
